Does Mindfulness really work?

I am pushing myself to get up at 6am every morning and sit outside in the back yard to practice mindfulness. I am trying to settle into my new home and adjust to having others occupying the same household. I find change such as moving house challenging and stressful and mindfulness should give me a smoother transition as I have less personal space in my life right now. How does this relate to my professional practice you may ask? Well I also believe that stress affects my work and mindfulness helps me to manage this stress which, in turn, makes my work easier to manage and more fulfilling. Plus I am gaining experience with mindfulness and developing skills which makes it easier for me to guide clients through the practice of mindfulness in therapeutic encounters. Is mindfulness a waste of time? No! It really clears my mind and gives me a good start to the day. I have an improved sleeping routine which helps me to be alert and tune into the needs of my clients. Mindfulness helps me to show self-care for myself and function within a healthy routine and deal with any negative thoughts that challenge my mental state, eg. COVID, Social Anxiety, anxiety about not having enough clients. How are you managing with your stress levels? Perhaps you should give mindfulness a go. Hey, it might not be ideal for everyone but it works for me!
